Argentum made significant progress over the past year in advancing policy priorities to increase access and affordability of senior living and address our workforce challenges.

For these efforts, Argentum's advocacy once again earned national recognition, being named as one of The Hill newspaper's top lobbyists of 2025, the fifth consecutive year earning this award.

Most notable, Argentum secured a years-long policy objective in January with the signing into law of the Expanding Veterans’ Options for Long Term Care Act, part of the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act. This law establishes a three-year pilot program for veterans to choose assisted living for their care. Argentum began working with key lawmakers following a 2021 report from the VA on the projected long-term care needs of veterans and the need to expand options such as assisted living. Since enactment, Argentum has met with senior leadership at the Department of Veterans Affairs on implementing and expanding the scope of the pilot program.

Argentum capped off a productive 2024 in advocacy with the enactment of the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act. That legislation, signed into law by President Biden on January 2, 2025, will establish a pilot program to allow veterans to choose assisted living for their long-term care needs.

That's not all! Over the past year, Argentum led a nationwide campaign to counter misleading reporting and thwarted a related Congressional effort against the senior living industry, protected against onerous federal regulation, and advanced meaningful legislation to promote the value of assisted living, increase access and affordability, and expand workforce development programs.

For its efforts, Argentum's advocacy once again earned national recognition, being named for the fourth consecutive year as one of The Hill newspaper's top lobbyists of 2024.

The U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted 20-1 to advance S. 4776, the Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act of 2024, to extend the law, which expires on September 30, for another five years. The legislation includes Argentum-supported provisions to address workforce shortages and expand multigenerational care models that will aid senior living communities, residents, families, and caregivers.

Bob White says the third time will be the charm as he nears a summer retirement from his more than decade of service as executive director of the Kentucky Senior Living Association (KSLA). “Third time” refers to the fact White stepped down from leadership roles twice before when he was with Christian Care Communities and chief executive officer of Presbyterian Homes of Kentucky prior to the KSLA job.

The adage says that you can’t be in two places at once, but through Argentum, senior living advocates are able to have their voices heard in Washington while serving their communities.
