With the increase in cases of the Omicron COVID variant, the FDA and CDC have announced some updates that can help guide testing decisions and action. 

• The FDA updated the SARS-CoV-2 Viral Mutations: Impact on COVID-19 Tests web page. It contains general information as well as a list of tests whose performance may be affected by mutations.  
• CDC has updated its self-testing page, adding information on when and why to use a self-test, and what to do after getting results. 
• CDC has a new Omicron page that provides background information on the emergence of the variant, where Omicron has been found within the U.S., and what we know and are still learning about Omicron.
