CDC Releases New Mask Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People

The CDC updated its mask guidance today for people who are fully vaccinated in the general public. Guidance for healthcare professionals remains unchanged at this time. The CDC now recommends wearing a mask indoors in any of these conditions:

  • If you are in an area of substantial or high transmission. The linked map shows areas of substantial transmission in yellow and high transmission in red. The entire states of Florida and Arkansas are noted as high-transmission areas.

  • If you or someone in your household has a weakened immune system or are at increased risk for severe disease. You might choose to use a mask at any transmission level.

  • If state or local regulations or guidance require it.
