Veterans Day: Support Long-Term Care Options

In observance of Veterans Day, the U.S. Senate Special Committee On Aging is holding a field hearing in Tampa, Florida today at 2:00 p.m. ET on "Issues Facing Veterans: Access to Care, Services, and Economic Opportunity."

Watch Hearing: Today at 2:00 ET

Today's field hearing presents an opportunity for senior living advocates to get our voices heard on the need for Congress to pass the Expanding Veterans' Options for Long Term Care Act (H.R. 1815, S. 495). This bipartisan legislation would finally give veterans the ability to choose assisted living for their long-term care, instead of a nursing home.

The bills call for establishing a pilot program to allow veterans who choose assisted living to be able to receive the same benefit they would in a nursing home. Importantly, the VA supports this bill, as it found it could save nearly $70,000 per person every year.

But we need your help to get the word out. We are calling on all senior living advocates to join us today on Veterans Day to send a pre-written letter to your senators and member of Congress urging them to pass this important legislation. All you have to do is add your contact information and click "send message."

Take Action: Send a Message

You are also encouraged to share this message with your friends, neighbors, and colleagues who support giving our veterans the choice of care they deserve.
